WJ’s Construction Document Management

Although bluelines and reproductions of various types are inherent to the design phase of every project, it is at bid time when sets of bluelines and books of specifications are required in large quantities. It is, also, a time when all parties are pressed to provide accurate and timely information. Usually, time is of the essence.

It is during this time when the WJ’s Construction Document Management (WJ’s CDM) program eases the stress and facilitates the distribution of bid documents by providing a comprehensive blueprinting and copying service.

What Is WJ’s CDM?
WJ’s Construction Document Management is a comprehensive, coordinated service for the copying, distribution, and accountability of bid documents (blueprints and/or specifications). WJ’s CDM provides bid documents “on demand” to bidders allowing them maximum time to prepare and submit a responsible bid.

Is It a New Concept?
WJ has been copying and distributing drawings and specifications as part of their total reprographic services since 1991. The WJ’s CDM program grew out of the traditional printing of bid documents into a focused and integrated service where performance and accountability is stressed.

Who Uses WJ’s CDM?
Architects, engineers, property owners, developers, construction managers, general contractors, and facilities managers, as well as various governmental agencies who require contractors and subcontractors to review drawings, specifications and submit bids represent the majority of document submitters. WJ has worked with all of these professional groups on a variety of new construction and renovation projects.

How Does WJ’s CDM Work?

  1. WJ holds in safe keeping a set of original reproducible drawings and specifications.
  2. Bidders are advised that bid documents are available for purchase from WJ.**
  3. Bidders place orders for drawings and specifications directly with WJ and arrange for delivery and payment at the time the order is placed. Complete and/or partial sets (if allowed) of documents may be ordered.
  4. Drawings and specifications are printed to order, avoiding the extra expense of overprinting when large quantities are ordered in advance.
  5. WJ takes on full responsibility for all the record keeping, including a complete listing of the contractors and subcontractors receiving bid documents and addendums. Then upon completion of the bidding cycle, these lists are delivered to the document submitters.

** Payment for copying and distribution varies from one job to another. However, if participating bidders pay for the documents at time of purchase, no payment is required from the document submitters.

Why WJ Blueprints?
